It is often said that if it weren’t for the Christians, many people would follow Jesus.
This seemingly prevalent attitude amongst the non-believers, is shocking to many Christians when it in fact should be enlightening. It seems that all our talk is like sounding brass and clanging cymbals.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to “follow”Him. That is to do as He did, say what He said and go where He went. We should be like Him. If we model our lives after Jesus, we should be so attractive that we draw many to Christ.
Since Jesus is God manifested unto us in the flesh, the character of God has been revealed to us through the life of Jesus and His word , the Bible.
As disciples of Christ, we focus on growing spiritually by building our altars of Prayer, Giving and Worship.
Our prayer is simply communication with our Father through effective, fervent prayer and sometimes through our natural conversations with God.
By giving our tithes and offerings, sowing into the furtherance of God’s Kingdom and helping those in need around us as God directs, we imitate the heart of Jesus.
Worshiping and glorifying God, is the primary purpose for our lives. Through our lives, God must be glorified. We are His representatives here on earth.
Many Christians live a life dedicated and fully committed to the above , yet why are so many people still not following hard after our Lord, Jesus Christ?
I Corinthians 13:1-3 states “THOUGH I SPEAK WITH THE TONGUES OF MEN AND OF ANGELS, BUT HAVE NOT LOVE, I HAVE BECOME SOUNDING BRASS OR A CLANGING CYMBAL . AND THOUGH I HAVE THE GIFT OF PROPHECY, AND UNDERSTAND ALL MYSTERIES AND ALL KNOWLEDGE, AND THOUGH I HAVE ALL FAITH, SO THAT I COULD REMOVE MOUNTAINS, BUT HAVE NOT LOVE, I AM NOTHING. AND THOUGH I BESTOW ALL MY GOODS TO FEED THE POOR, AND THOUGH I GIVE MY BODY TO BE BURNED, BUT HAVE NOT LOVE IT PROFITS ME NOTHING”
I believe that LOVE is the vehicle we should use in our walk and talk with Jesus. GOD IS LOVE and without it nothing can be done in the name of our father. The spirit of strife is the little fox that set the whole field on fire. When we argue and contend with one another, LOVE cannot be present ,as light and darkness cannot dwell together.
When we walk in LOVE, we radiate God’s very nature. When we choose Wisdom’s paths of pleasantness and peace, our countenance reflects God’s glory and He delights in us.
How beautiful we are when we resemble God our Father, the Creator of all things beautiful.
It is often , nearly impossible to walk in LOVE with those who push us to the brink of insanity. Maintaining an attitude of LOVE seems ludicrous when people are treating us so badly and unfairly. LOVE is often the last thing on our minds when we are hurt or our children or loved ones are hurt.
