What makes me beautiful

Beauty has and will always be a sought after commodity on this earth. Those who don’t have it, want it and those who have it, want to keep it. However, beauty is only skin deep and radiantly beautiful people have unearthed the key to sought after RADIANCE.
This “key” is available to all and does take some “unearthing”, but it is completely accessible to all God’s children.

I’ve heard it said that if confidence could be bottled and sold, it would top the best seller’s list for empowering people to achieve their goals and desires. There is a certain attraction about a woman who  carries herself with confidence, that draws people to her. When she walks into a room, people notice her and ask “who is she? ”

Confidence was greatly lacking in my life, from childhood to adulthood. Then I began to “unearth ” my treasure, put inside of me by my Father, God. What an awesome and delightful journey of discovery this is. I would love to light the path for others, to finding this confidence through knowing WHO you are as well as Whose you are.

When we realize that the Creator of the universe has made all things beautiful, including us, we are one step closer to unlocking the treasure in our earthen vessel. The starting point, as children of God, is understanding that we were created to Glorify God.

Reflecting God's Glory

Putting the cart before the horse

In this world, we are obsessed with ME. We are the “selfie generation”. All our pursuits centre around our goals, dreams, desires and happiness. We have been putting the cart before the horse and have sabotaged ourselves from attaining a truly beautiful and successful life.

Matt 6:33Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Jesus promises us that if we seek God’s Kingdom first, we shall want for nothing. It is not about us after all. We are meant to live our lives to reflect God’s Glory. That is the PURPOSE for our lives. As the moon reflects the sun, so are we to reflect God. In doing so, we are reflecting His Beauty, His Radiance, His Peace and His JOY.

Much of our dissatisfaction, unhappiness, anxiety, and depression, will be eliminated with a change of our focus. We magnify what we focus on. Instead of obsessing about our needs and problems, we should look to Jesus who invites us to cast all our cares on Him. He says in Matthew 11:28-30come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

This awesome invitation shows how Jesus desires us to live. He knows the cares and needs we have and offers to take it all on Him. WOW ! This alone will fill me with such JOY when I can give my problems to somebody else to carry. We can then be “light”and carefree. We will then be filled with such Peace and Joy and resultant radiance.

Seeking His Kingdom, which is Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost, (Rom 14:17) takes our focus off of ourselves and brings us into a place where God intended us to be all along… in His presence.

To some, this word might seem arrogant or be associated with arrogance, but to believers we know that our righteousness is nothing to be boastful about. We did nothing to attain it, but it was a gift that we have received when we accepted Jesus as our saviour (Rom 5:17). We became the righteousness of God in Christ. God sees Jesus when He sees us and therefore we are righteous.

Self-righteousness, on the other hand, is like filthy rags to God. There is nothing we can do to make ourselves righteous, so by faith we lay hold of the righteousness bought for us by the blood of Jesus.

As the Righteous, we can lay hold of the many promises available only to the righteous. When you then study God’s word, and establish yourself in righteousness, your confidence will grow and you will bask in this knowledge.

Jesus gave us His peace. In John 14:27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, my Peace I give to you”.

Being established in righteousness, knowing that our Father inclines His ear unto the cry of the Righteous, fills us with a peace and comfort. We have a confidence that Rom 8:28 promises….”all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose”.

Embracing this peace and entering into His rest, brings with it an external manifestation. Your whole outward appearance now reflects JESUS and you become RADIANTLY BEAUTIFUL

Joy is an external expression of an inward truth while happiness is associated with outward circumstances or people. The knowledge that our Father has our backs, is straightening every crooked path and working all things out for our good, fills us with peace and joy that defies logic.

This Joy is a fruit of focusing, not on ourselves, but on others. Jesus says that whoever loses his life, will find it. This simply talks about doing for others. Helping others achieve their dreams or goals, or simply being of service to others in some way.

The Joy of giving, far surpasses the fleeting, shallow result of receiving. Putting on the garment of praise, lifts the burden of heaviness that often threatens our peace and robs us of our joy. The Joy of the Lord is our strength and when we are joyful, we GLOW in Him.

Joyfully Beautiful

I stand in awe of God’s brilliance when I realize how perfectly He has created His kingdom. All the best gifts are hidden in His word for us to find. He is the perfect parent, teaching us His ways, leaving us a detailed instruction manual and gracing us with enough help in the form of His Holy Spirit, to unearth all His promises. True beauty is found in Him. It is enduring, pure and attainable.

Thank you for these inspiring words today! Very timely and just what I needed to hear! It’s amazing how when we get caught up in the rat race we can drift away from remembering the glory of God and how he put us here to praise Him and acknowledge all the wonder in His world! Thanks for this reminder and a little food for my soul today 🙂

Wow, Charlene! What a breath of fresh air! I like how clearly you explained about righteousness, joy, and peace. It helps me get focused on what’s important. You said our purpose is to reflect God’s glory, right? Can you explain that a little more? How does that work? What exactly should I do to live that purpose?

      Hi Laura
Thank you for your comment and interest in my post. In answer to your question/s I would like to encourage you in understanding the NATURE of God. He is GOOD, LOVING, MERCIFUl etc. If we understand that GOLRIFYING GOD is the reason that He created us, our perspective will align with His will.
God gives us a perfect example in Jesus of HOW to live in this life. He never asks us to do what He himself did not do. In seeking to know Him and develop a RELATIONSHIP with Him, He gently directs and teaches us His way.(Proverbs has a chapter for every day of each month, meditate on His word and seek Wisdom) Losing your life (i.e. not focussing on yourself) and living to represent Him to others is what brings Glory to Him. God’s system is so perfect in that in “losing” our life, we actually step into an ABUNDANT life that we never imagined (as Jesus promised in John 10:10….in that He came to give us life in ABUNDANCE)
I pray that God reveals Himself to you as you draw nearer to Him. He is fully attentive to you at all times.

    Hi Charlene,
What about Gratitude? I think that for the feeling of joy, confidence, and peace, first of all, you need to feel Gratitude. For everything, you have at this moment. Good or bad. For me Gratitude has bigger power then we realize it.
When we are thankful, we shine in beauty from the inside.

      Hi janalac

You are absolutely right. We come into His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with praise. When we are established in Righteousness (freely gifted to us by Jesus Christ), and accept all the blessings made available to the righteous , we cannot help but be grateful for His salvation. God loves to hear His children thank Him for what He has done for us, many times we forget.
