God created the universe in six days and then He rested (Genesis 1). It was good. Our creator is so wise in His creation in that everything which He created was embedded with seed i.e. the ability to recreate itself. God did not envision a situation where He would recreate e.g. a tree  or a fish ,once it reached the end of it’s life-cycle. No, I’ve come to realize that it’s  all in me.The ability to produce and reproduce. The Creator, put everything that I need in me long before the foundations of the world were laid. I came fully loaded. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 COR 4:7

Seed, when sown in fertile soil and watered, will multiply and produce a harvest after it’s own kind. It’s God’s law of nature. This law is true in the natural world as well as the spiritual world. The Bible tells us that God gives seed to the sower. He supplies the seed and you are to sow the seed. “He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for flour- supply and multiply the seed you have sown…2 COR 9:10

Whenever God blesses us, He always gives it in seed form. This seed is in your hand and you have the responsibility to multiply the seed. The parable of the “talents”in the Bible comes to mind. God expects and empowers you to multiply whatever He gave you. If you are able to take care of the seed, He will bless you with a bountiful harvest.

We pray for various needs to be met, whether for our own lives or for those around us. Our needs vary as our faces do. Some have financial need, others have relational needs while some have physical needs.

When we then desire a harvest, we have to sow a seed. What harvest we want , will determine the type of seed we sow. When a farmer wants a tomato harvest, he will plant tomato seeds.

Similarly , if we want financial blessings we have to sow a financial seed into good soil by giving tithes and offerings and blessing the poor etc. If we want love , we have to sow love. If we want respect, we have to sow respect. If you want friends, you have to show yourself friendly etc. How we treat our parents , will be how our children will treat us one day.

Jesus said “Be not deceived, whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”. Plant what you want to harvest “Give and it will be given  to you”. Luke 6:38

Our harvest is not only dependant upon what we sow, but is also determined by HOW we sow. ” He who sows sparingly, will also reap sparingly, but he who sows bountifully,  will reap bountifully“.2 COR 9:6 It follows then  that what we want in life, and how much of it, lies within our power to bring about. God has given us this power.

Where we sow , is just as vital to our harvest as the what and the how of our sowing. It does not matter how good your seed is, nor the amount thereof , if you are sowing in bad soil. Good soil will be that which allows you to glorify God for . If you cannot do that, then you ought not to be sowing there.

Our words are also powerful seeds which we sow into the spiritual realm and which manifests in the natural because we are the only speaking spirits in this natural world. This is so because we are created in the image of  our Father who spoke worlds into existence. He sent  His Word (JESUS) and healed our disease. Jesus was the Word in the beginning (creation). “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word became flesh and dwelt amoungst us”. JOHN 1:1 The power of words is thus demonstrated in the very embodiment of the Word, Jesus.

The words that come out of your mouth is what is in your heart. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks“. This believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth is actually the recipe of faith. Yes negative faith works too. That is why it is important to”guard your heart above all else because out of it flows the issues of life.”  Proverbs 4:23

God demonstrated the power of the seed in Creation when He made everything bearing seed and again when He bought mankind back and paid with the life of His Son Jesus. God himself sent the WORD as a seed. Each seed when planted has to give it’s life to bring forth  new growth , rebirth. Jesus died on the cross, so that we could be reborn. He paid with His life the debt we owed sin, because the wages of sin is death.

This seed was so powerful, that it completely overpaid the sin debt effective for all eternity. All sin past , present and future was paid for. As with any gift, it is not yours until you receive it. This seed , Jesus,is only effective when you receive Him  and plant Him in your heart. His WORD, must be sent, planted, sown.

One key component in the harvest cycle without which, nothing can grow is TIME. Patience is the power twin of FAITH. So often we want our answer to prayer soon. Yesterday is best please. No matter how much we fast and pray,Father time will not overide Mother nature except when ordered to do so by the creator of time (Jesus turned water into wine in an instant, He did not have to wait for the grapes to grow, be harvested and matured in the wine vats). Time is God’s perfecting tool. The harvester needs to be ready for the harvest.

Elisha served Elijah for 20 years before He was called to walk in his ministry. All throughout the Bible , we see many servants of God going through the waiting period before the fulfillment of God’s purpose for their lives. Joseph waited in the pit and prison. Abraham waited for the promised son. This purpose ultimately glorifies God.Jesus waited 30 years before He began His earthly ministry. The boy Jesus, had to be ready for the divine Jesus, who, after having been empowered by the Holy Spirit of God, could sow His seed. So we too, after having consulted and  heard from God, must sow our seed and wait.

He will send you a harvest which will “increase the fruit of your righteousness’ 2 COR 9:10. God will be glorified.

It is in the waiting that God perfects us for His purpose. He prunes us to produce more fruit and cuts away that which does not produce fruit and which does not reflect His glory.

This waiting is the testing of our faith. He tries us and sees what is in our heart. When the pressure is applied and we are squeezed, what is on the inside of us will come out. God needs to see if He can trust you with the blessing. When you receive your answered prayer, will you forget Him?

Waiting is not passive but is active and faithful. While we wait expectantly on God,we should guard our hearts and  water our seed. The Lord of the Harvest  will not fail you, no never. Heb3:15

So what is it that you are desiring? Is it in God’s will? What seed are you prepared to sow for your harvest? What will be your attitude while waiting?

I trust that this post blesses you and makes you more intentional in your sowing and discovering God’s purpose for your life. God has already given us all we need. Let’s take Him at His Word.
