    WHY DO YOU KEEP BLEEDING?

Healing is a slow process . Why do so many of us take such a long time to heal from wounds? Whether we suffer from addiction, or emotional , financial or psychological pain, we often find that the path to true healing and restoration takes some of us a very long time (if at all). Some may bewilderingly ask or be asked, ” why do you keep bleeding?”.While loved ones around us may see clearly and grow impatient with us for remaining blinded to our poison, we remain captive. It takes courage to admit that we need help or that we’ve failed. It takes courage to face and defeat the…

    WHO IS MY BEST TEACHER?

The new year has started in all respects as learners returned to schools. Social media is flooded with posts, images and pictures of eager (some not so eager) learners embarking on this years academic journey. I’ve heard my daughter Samantha repeating: Teacher Monica is “My Best Teacher ever!” Whether the journey we are embarking on this year is academic achievement or growth in any area eg. our career, walk with God, economic growth etc. there will be discomfort. Certainly there can be no growth in comfort. Are we prepared to go after our desires and pay the required price or are we deluded into thinking that we can simply just…

    WHAT ARE YOU EATING?

THE TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH How many of us can smell what someone had just eaten? This got me thinking about the lingering taste of what we eat in our mouths. What are you eating? Can those who you speak to, tell what you have eaten by the smell on your breath? The two worst offenders are garlic and onions, especially when eaten raw. This is spiritually true as well. It has often been said that “a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. Well, before it can get to the stomach, it has to go through the mouth. The heart-mouth connection is seen throughout scripture. ” For with…

    IT’S ALL IN ME

PERFECT CREATION God created the universe in six days and then He rested (Genesis 1). It was good. Our creator is so wise in His creation in that everything which He created was embedded with seed i.e. the ability to recreate itself. God did not envision a situation where He would recreate e.g. a tree  or a fish ,once it reached the end of it’s life-cycle. No, I’ve come to realize that it’s  all in me.The ability to produce and reproduce. The Creator, put everything that I need in me long before the foundations of the world were laid. I came fully loaded. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,…

ARE MEN BECOMING AN “ENDANGERED SPECIES” ?

As a Notary , I have the opportunity to witness many young couples executing  ante nuptial contracts to regulate their marital regime. It pains me to see so many of the men shrinking back and allowing the woman to steer the conversation and make major decisions pertaining to their future. This got me thinking about the trend that is evident in our society today where women are becoming more and more dominant. Feminists would be quite pleased with this trend but ironically, women are lamenting about the lack of real men in the world. Songs like “I need a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler has been replaced by “Hero” from Mariah…

WHICH MIRROR IS YOUR DAUGHTER LOOKING INTO?

Most of us have daughters , grandaughters or nieces. If not, there surely is a little girl in your life that  you just adore. When these girls were born, there was much excitement, frills, balloons and bows. The splendour and splash of a little princess on the horison, is seldom eclipsed. Moms have only thoughts of their daughters being successful, happy , healthy and fulfilled. Our little girls are then introduced to life , the way we see or experience it, as well as the way the world represents it. There is no doubt that our experiences, good or bad, colours our  “education” of our daughters. We naturally do not…

    I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE

MAKING SENSE OF IT ALL How many of us are constantly trying to figure life out or how we are going to manage something? Some of us are always  busy trying to “make sense” of it all whilst trying to survive the peaks and valleys. We are churning things around in our minds all the time and we will not rest until we can see a way. We often won’t let a thing go and after exacerbating it, we finally admit (though reluctantly) that,  “I don’t know anymore”. During the course of my working day Wednesday, I had a meeting with a gentleman who is originally from India. As is the…

ARE YOU TIRED OF FIGHTING AND READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL?

SHATTERED DREAMS… When we were children, we just wanted to be grown up. I remember how my sister Samantha, my friend Grace  and I, imagined our lives would be when we were the perfect age i.e. 19 (we were 9 or 10  years old at the time). We fantasized about how wonderful it would be as we planned to  share a house or apartment , live and work together. Off-course we would have beautiful bodies , hair and wear fabulous clothes. We would have great careers and drive beautiful cars ( like Charlie’s Angels). Oh how we wished to be nineteen! We could not wait. Many hours were spent laying on our…

UNDERSTANDING THE “WHY” WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH THE FIRE

ISAIAH 43:2 ” When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you” All fire is not necessarily bad. Fire is a purifying agent and a moulding and shaping agent. In order to better survive our fire experiences, it is vital that our perspective of it changes. By understanding  the process and the purpose of your “fire” experiences, we get a boost in our endurance of it. When we better understand the “why” of something, we are better equipped to handle the “what” of…

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR CHILD IS HURTING

Many of us have been blessed with a child or children, either through natural means, adoption or heart connection. You may naturally know how to love  your child , but often need to know  what to do when your child is hurting. Being a parent is both the most rewarding and most challenging roles we play in our lifetime. We experience the indescribable joy of a heart swollen to bursting with love , yet sometimes sadly experience the most excruciating pain through loss, disappointment or rejection. By the grace of God,  we as parents, endure the hardships and pain of life which we all will experience one time or another. We survive, press on and hold…
